I need help with a few things.
« on: November 27, 2008, 12:17:56 am »

It's to be an adult site,  I haven't put anything on it yet,  guessing that
would make it easier to find help.

1.  I would like my site to look generally consistent with the theme of:    http://www.trz-blue.com/
Same logo on every page.  A simple "clean" arrangement of links/tags/menus/etc.  (I'm not fussy just want site it to look consistent page to page) Logo can be reduced and pulled to the left on other pages.

This page will become a "Warning adult material: Accept/Decline page.  presented to all new arrivals, but should be not presented to registered users,  who will arrive and log in on via the main page.  "Accept" will take them to "Register".

Main page to show a large display picture then below,  thumbnails sorted by:
"Most Recent" (site wide)
and then by
"Most Viewed"  (site wide)

info: I will only be giving selected users permission to post or create galleries of their own.

Statistics at near page bottom:  Members: xxxxxx   Pictures: xxxxxx
(both site wide stats)

I'll be bridging it with my Joomla blog,  I don't much care how that
looks (I don't expect users to be very interested from previous experience,  of course it would be nice to have it follow the same
theme,  but it isn't necessary).   Oh and a security check or advice would be appreciated,  adult sites attract... shall we say "peekers and pokers", by the score.

I've been reading plenty,  but it seems I'm only finding bits and pieces of what I need to know,  here and there.  I guess I'd eventually get it,  but the process is going way too slow.  I'd rather be up and running while I research in the background.  I've seen some very good work done here.  I was very surprised at what can be done with this software.  Only wish I had the time up front.
Thanks

1. there are plenty of theme's available, even a couple of the stock theme's would work nicely.
2. Put your gallery in a different folder to the root page and have the root page host the warning.
3. Main page to show a Large picture - Use anycontent.php for that, if you want a random picture, then then anycontent.php will have to be hacked to show just one picture. A nice coder could  help in that department. Does anyone know how to do this? I suspect it's very easy, but I'm no coder.
Multiple anycontent hack - Easy and very useful

Site wide, would require editing the core and not a theme, although it can be done with a theme, but it depends on how many themes you have/use, (just requires more editing).
4. Giving only selected users premission to post and create, Just alter the groups permissions as you want.
5. Statistics, there is a statistics plugin that will show howmany users are online, including guests and registered users, but it also shows the peak number of visitors. For a quick idea of how it works, visit my gallery in my sig.

6. Security, use complex and lengthy passwords for ALL adminstration, both the website, and database. Nag the service host to keep their files upto date - they most likely will anyway. Keep on top of all the updates for CPG, both major and minor. Beware that any hacks you have added may be lost and need to be applied again.
7. For now, the best way to get things running the way you want is to get a small sample site going, test it, get a feel for the workings of CPG and apply what you learn to the final product.

Good Luck.
