[Solved]: Parse Error ...include/mailer.inc.php on line 216

When trying to update the description of an album or leaving a comment on a picture I get the following error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/jordanch/public_html/photos/jewels_of_asia/include/mailer.inc.php on line 216

Why does this happen and how do I solve it please?

My friend solved the problem. She said that part of the file was corrupt and was missing the end parts of the coding. There seemed to be several corrupt files in the download i got. :( Hopefully that's the last of the problems!
