How to not recompress pictures?

Is it possible to simply upload pictures without recompressing them?

I tried this: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,54483.msg267307.html#msg267307
but the maxNonTransformedPictureSize param doesn't get sent to the page...
