Reset to Factory Defaults
« on: October 05, 2007, 01:43:46 am »

I've had my site up and running for sometime now and had no problems.

Today I thought I'd refresh everything so I clicked on 'Reset to Factory Defaults'

Now all I have is a blank page and no access to my admin.php and other files.

Should I edit the admin file or is there another work around?

I've got Dreamweaver 8 and other text editors but am a little clueless when it comes to php coding.

Can anybody assist please or point me in the right direction.

Thanks for listenening and any forthcoming assistance.  ::) :o

Restore factory defaults resets the config data in database. Afaik the only way out is restoring the database from an earlier backup. Ask your webhost whether they have a recent database backup (prior to when you used Reset), if yes then restore it.

Thanks Abbas Ali

I actually went the long way around.

Downloaded 1.4.13 zip file. Uploaded it to my server overwriting all the old files.

I created a new MYSQL server locale and admin user and reinstalled CPG.

Changed to my preferred theme (Melting pot Left) and it all came back - except - all the dummy user accounts I created.

http://lizardloungemusic.com/index.php if anybody is interested. Now a regenerated work in progress.
http://lizardloungemusic.com/index.html is my Maintenance page.

I don't suppose with the overwrite that I can reinstate those users, (maybe you can let me know if it's possible, but I'll do a search on the forum anyway) If not, It's been an educational exercise and fun to be able to start over.

I won't be resetting to factory defaults again - EVER!

They should remove that button altogether, or put a warning message before execution.

Cheers and thnx again  :D

There was no need to re-install. Re-installation deletes all old photos/albums/categories/users etc..

You can still have your old gallery if you have old "albums" folder and old "database". As i said earlier - ask your webhost if they have a database backup or perhaps you yourself have a database backup?

Funny you should mention that.

My MYSQL just went down fifteen minutes ago and I am on online chat with my webhost right now.

I doubt if they have a back up but I'll see.

I'll let you know how it goes

Thnx again
