Comment OK button in Flash
« on: September 13, 2006, 08:34:47 pm »

Comment Spam is very common on coppermine .97% of computers have Flash 6 minimum.

is it possible to use a small flash "OK" button instead of Javascript "OK" button while submitting Comments on a picture..?

What script code would b required to make that button in flash 6 or above?

A form can't be submitted using just a special button only. The entire form would have to be Flash-driven. Such a mod doesn't exist. The spammers don't submit their crap on the actual comments page that contains the form, but send their input to the receiving file that does the permission checking and finally writes to the database, so even a flash-driven form wouldn't help as far as I can see.
Imo you have 4 options:
  • disable anonymous comments
  • implement the captcha mod
  • implement the akismet mod
  • wait for cpg1.5.x, which will feature advanced comment options

Thanks for the reply

CAPTCHA is nice ..the mod/hack cant b installed on my server.it has no font support
wordpress method is not 100% as its a guess work.
yes i can wait for next version
But i have alternative which is ridiculously simple. it uses a single image(not random autogenerated) with code written over it.I have been using it for last 1 year for my website .  Now i want to implement it in coppermine comment system as well.

I have opened the proper thread for it as well at
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=36230.0

bots cant read images thats what i have learnt in last 1 year with over half million legal visitors and numerous ots crawaling my website as logs show.

Kindly respond to it so i can implement it.
