Restoring old albums into new install
« on: February 28, 2006, 04:14:45 am »

I am not sure if this is possible, but I attempted to upgrade my Coppermine from 1.3.3 to the most current version.  Something screwed up, and I wound up doing a total fresh install of the newest version.  I was able to have a full copy of the 1.3.3 version saved to my local drive and I am now wondering if it is possible to take those albums/categories, etc. and make them work in my 1.4.4 version.  I am also running this version, as was the older version, integrated into phpBB 2.0.18.

Any help and steps to making this work would be great, as to do it totally one step at a time is likely to kill me! :)

if the db of your 1.3 install is still on your box then you can change include/config.inc.php to use the old 1.3 db ($CONFIG['dbname'] and $CONFIG['TABLE_PREFIX']). After that change run update php and the bridgemanager again

Okay...a bit of a newb here when it comes to all of that.

Are you referring as to whether I have the old database and such still on my server?  If I alter the config.inc.php to use the old one, does that mean that my old albums folder will have to be put in place of the new one?

Tried changing the prefix to cpg133, but the database name is the same as the old one...I think it may have already overwritten that one... :(  not sure what I can do.  But I sure as hell don't want to manually reintegrate all my categories, albums, and user comments.

check your db with a tool like phpmyadmin to make sure
You don't happen to have a db backup??

tried all the ones it could be.  Problem is...I think that the attempted upgrade has maybe botched my "old" data file...not sure what else to do.

Tried the forgot password...when I was prompted to enter my email, I entered the one that I have used for close to 10 years now, and was told that the email address was not present or something like that.

I have not installed phpMyAdmin, as I am not the server side tech itself...I am merely a person using the server.  I am not sure about installing a   bunch of extra things on there...there is no hack or work-around to make them work as though they were created for that version?  I am a little confused.

It's not your bbs user/ pwd but the one you used when installing CPG

Okay...so I am HAPPY to say....it looks like I got it up and running...installed phpMyAdmin...found the old admin info(it had been a looooong time since I used that, and it looked like I used defaults..lol) and it is all working.  Thanks for the help guys...and phpMyAdmin is great!! :)

But not as great as Coppermine!

Thanks again!

Oh and p.s. I knew it wasnt the bbs user/pwd...but it had been so long since I had installed CPG that I had no clue what the Admin details were.  Once I integrated with phpBB, I just put my bbs user account up to admin capabilities and used that...
