image upload problem...going bonkers
« on: September 22, 2004, 01:02:24 am »

I just installed coppermine today. went step by step and read the manual inside and out. I try to upload an image (batch mode under user or admin) starts to upload then just refreshes the page. I made sure to chmod the albums folder and the include forlder. I contacted my hosting company...they said gd is installed and that any scripts that use it should funtion. however, when I ran the info.php ( http://www.skinasylum.com/info.php ) no gd line is coming up. Any Ideas why my upload function is not working...please advise

my site is in testing....you can check it out there if that helps

thanks

ok....well....I switched it over single upload only....got this error:

PHP running on your server does not support the GD image library, check with your webhost if ImageMagick is installed

if gd is complied....do I have to have imagemagick installed?

Your link gives me an Internal Server Error.

ImageMagick would be installed by your webhost, you would have to ask them the path to enter into coppermine config.

You need a section like this in a phpinfo to know that you have GD working properly:

Code: [Select]
GD Support enabled
GD Version bundled (2.0.23 compatible)
FreeType Support enabled
FreeType Linkage with freetype
GIF Read Support enabled
JPG Support enabled
PNG Support enabled
WBMP Support enabled
XBM Support enabled

You can join me and TranzNDance at Lunarpages. Same price as you pay currently with support for both GD and ImageMagick.

Glad you got yourself sorted,

But for anyone else lookin for a new host, please see this thread, Webhosts for Coppermine.

There are several recommended, with various prices etc.

Please also realise, that with the internet as it is, there is absolutely no need to be hosted in your own country.

It's very easy, just don't use the fantastico install, install it properly yourself. You need to set 755 permissions and not 777, and you'd need a minor code change to use ImageMagick instead of GD if you wish to do that. PM me if you have any probs.

Might as well use GD from my understanding... IM doesn't appear to have any major redeeming qualities over GD 2.x from what I can tell. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, though.

if the link doesn't work....it could be because my domain is stil not fully 100% parked yet.

Enjoy and thanks again...will spread the word

@ SkinAsylum

your link does not work.  Also, going to your site, using mozilla firefox, your layout is all broken.

btw....not trying to stir up a huge argument about coding either...I know programers get pretty touch about that. I have doing webdesign professionally for about 6 years...finally got sick and tired of trying to accomdate for the mass amount of different browsers and what not. Now I really only do design (web that is) for pleasure and only design for the mass majority of users.
