Disabling Thumbnails for all types except images

Is there a way to disable thumbnails of alll types except for images, the problem I'm having is I have a lot of video files as well as images, but because videos do not have thumbnails generated for them automatically I want to restirct what appears on the random files, last addtions tables to just images, is this possible?
