Random images from a selected category

I have multiple catagory's on my site (userpics, celeb pics, erotic pics, etc) but now i want to let the last uploaded and random pics only select images from the userpics files. Is this possible, and if so, how can i do this?

not possible without a lot of hacking - php knowledge required.

But is it possible that users can select wich files are seen (not that a users holiday pictures are shown in one table with somebody's erotic photo's)
