Updates on settings supporting software question
« on: October 22, 2022, 12:56:12 am »

Hi All,

PHP is ending support of  v74. So eventually the upgrade / switch over to php8x is going to have to happen. Are there any items of note in regards to Coppermine with this eventually change out?
I would also ask about MySQL / MariaDB to just kinda throw everything in there and get it out of the way.

So what happens now with Coppermne and the upgrades that are happening to the supporting software?

Thanks you.

CPG 1.6.20 has been successfully running with PHP 8.1 and MariaDB 10.3 for some time now. Plugins that you may be using will have to be separately evaluated with PHP 8. Almost any theme that has been working okay with CPG 1.6.x should have no issue with PHP 8.

Thank you for that. I appreciate it.

Would it be something that might need to get updated information wise on the homepage?

Yes, it certainly is. Unfortunately the team have dwindled over the years. A shame really as so many still use CPG.

I will not claim to be the brightest bulb in the shed. But if I can help in a small way I can try I certainly have been using Coppermine for a while. So the give back doesn't bother me. Maybe some front page updates and an extra child board or two. Even if not I still appreciate Coppermine.
