HTTPS and "Secure" Coppermine Sites
« on: April 08, 2019, 11:30:57 pm »

Hello,

I have noticed that the world wide web in general is cracking down on secure (https) vs. non-secure (http) sites - even if your site does not process payment information, it is generally recommended these days that your web site be secure (https). On my Coppermine galleries, which are not secure, I have been seeing more prominent "Not Secure" or "Connection is Not Secure" messages when I visit (depending on the browser being used). I was wondering what the Coppermine dev's opinion was on this issue. Do you recommend having a secure Coppermine website -- why or why not? If you recommend the sites being secure, do you have any SSL certificate recommendations?

Thanks,

Jessica

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

HTTPS is recommended, as you also send your username / password combinination to your server to login to Coppermine.
