Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image
« on: December 16, 2015, 07:15:02 pm »

Hello,

new to this gallery

I'm having issues when uploading on my Coppermine driven gallery http://www.chichestermbc.org/members/
When using http uploads and the suggested settings for upload troubleshooting in place, I get the error message

Code: [Select]
Critical error
Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image.

File: /home/linweb25/c/chichestermbc.org-1081413584/user/htdocs/members/db_input.php - Line: 704

Here's the test user account data:
    Username: Jim
    Password: Jim01

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Adam

Please check the file ownership and permissions of your /albums directory. Usually this message simply means the script is trying to create a file or folder but the server is preventing that from happening due to folder permissions. Your host may be the best people to ask with regards to what permissions will work best on their particular setup.

Please also check ownership of the folders/files. Permissions might be fine, but ownership may not be correct. The script needs to be able to write to these files/folders but it could be that whatever group they are in may not have group perms.

Hello:

I have tried a lot of changes, names, extensions, permissions, plugins definitions, different photos to different albuns, deleted the existing ones and still the same error "Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image".
I have also tried to to create another albuns with some photos previous uploaded and thats the only way to upload photos to an album. This means that existing files in the server can be batched to an album but, uploading new files and send them to the same album is not possible.
This problems start it when i updated to the latest version. Problem is i didint made any backup before updating the gallery version.
Regards.

It IS and ownership problem. Might be worth you asking your host for advice.
