Advertisements when I didn't put in an ad code
« on: August 04, 2015, 09:58:47 pm »

On my coppermine site, I used to put in this one ad code from my host (free fansite hosting) but I took it out to put it somewhere else. Before I could put it somewhere else, I noticed that the ad code showed up in the gallery anyways…and I didn't even type it in. My coppermine site is at http://ava-allan.com/gallery . Please help. Thank you.

Some free hosting sites inject the adverts automatically. It may be that you have a plugin that is injecting them. It does seem no matter what them I select of yours that the ads are there in the same location so I suspect your host has something to do with it.

I thought that it was something to do with the host too, but then I looked at other sites hosted by the same host and they don't have the ads :-\

Start by updating your site to the latest 1.5.36.

I think my gallery is all up to date but if it's not, what's the easiest way to update?

Hello,

Actually, you are not up-to-date. You can see your current version in your admin panel.

However, I looked at the HTML code generated by your gallery, you do have an ad code in your template. I can see it three times in the home page:
Code: [Select]
<script src="http://freefansitehosting.com/ads/leaderboard.js"></script>
Anyway, if you want to remove them, you should ensure that this is not against the terms of your hosting agreement.

I couldn't find the ad code in my template.html file. Is there another template file? And I'm not going to be taking away the ads, just moving them to a different place.

Hello,

You'll likely find it in the theme.php file located in your theme directory then.

You still need to update to the latest release. We are not asking for our benefit, we are asking for yours. Some known security issues exist which make you vulnerable. There are also a number of code enhancements in the latest release. We are always reluctant to help those with old versions as from experience we often either waste time trying to fix things that have already been fixed or worse still, end up having to help a user fix their hacked site. So please, before you continue update to the latest release.
