Auto refresh
« on: July 03, 2015, 11:02:08 pm »

Hi all,

Today I created a new coppermine photo gallery- however I seem to have a problem with refreshing the page automatically. For example, when I upload a new set of photos I have to refresh the page before they actually show up. Also when I create a new album, it won't show up until I refresh the page manually. In my other gallery, this is going automatically. Like when I create a new album, when I go to that page it shows up already before I have to refresh the page myself.

Not sure how to explain this, but I hope it's clear and someone knows the solution to this. ;)

The other gallery is on the same server with this one?
Maybe you have server chache options in your host control panel like Cloudflare.
That shows you an old version of your page.

I'm not sure when I can look, I'm hosted at GoDaddy and I can't find such things.. I created the gallery on the same hosting account, yes.

What you are describing isn't something Coppermine has any control over...
It is either something in your browser - or your hosting account - that is caching the pages and not refreshing.

If the browser behaves differently with your two galleries - then I would contact your webhost to see what differences there are between the directories/subdomains (depending on how you have it set up...)

Ok thank you, will ask them instead. I thought maybe there was something that needed to change in the settings.

''This is not something we would be able to assist you with. You will need to check settings within the application of check the Coppermine support boards.''
''The only differences between directories would be permissions, but permissions would not cause the issue you have described.''
''Unfortunately, there nothing we can really do. The server setting are, of course, the same across the entire account.''

I'm kind of confused and I don't know what to do anymore.... :'(

A link to your gallery and a user named tester, password test can help coppermine team to help you.
Also allow test to create albums.

tester & test login. ;)

I edited this post because the users you posted is an admin. That is not save. He needs to be a registred user only. I created for you tester, pass test.

I created album allvip test category in category Test category and then I went to http://5h-photos.com/ScreamQueens/gallery/index.php?cat=14 and the album was there. I did not needed to refresh the page.

BTW: user test is an admin. That gives me to much power over your gallery. Even to make changes in config, edit users including the admin etc. Is must be a register user only and allow him to create albums.
To allow registred users to create albums you go to Files - Categories - click the edit button near Test category - Group(s) allowed to create albums in this category - click - Registred - click Update/Create Gategory. I already did that for you.
PLEASE delete test user. I creted a user tester, pass test that is a registred user not an admin and is allowed to create abums only in Test category.

Keep Test category and user tester. Maybe someone from the coppermine dev team wants to take a look too. You can delete allvip albums.

Please check for any .htacces file, as there must be some rewrite rules, as I always get the same error, even when I try to access random paths on your server. Check yourself:
- http://5h-photos.com/ScreamQueens/gallery/nonsense

Maybe there's something related to caching inside that .htaccess file.

I just marked this thread as "not solved", as it's obviously not.

Resolve your threads
If you have found an answer to your question, resolve your thread. Don't just post "I have found the answer", but tell others what you actually did to solve your issues. Posting a link to the page where you found the answer might help. Describing what you did might help as well. Finally, you can tag your thread as "solved" by clicking on the "Topic Solved" button on the bar at the left hand side at the bottom of your thread.

By the way, this is the .htaccess file. Might there be anything wrong in here? I'm not sure what I need to change if so.

It is easy to check, simply rename the file to htindex.txt then see what happens. It it fixes the problem then we know that there is something in the file causing the issue

The file offers some security protection so better to debug the problem than remove it. In addition, it provides some re-write functions that may be used by your wordpress install.

Keep the .htaccess file from ScreamQueens folder.
Add a new empty .htaccess file in ScreamQueens/gallery folder.
That should overwrite the .htaccess file from ScreamQueens folder. The gallery will no longer take the rules from ScreamQueens/.htaccess, but from ScreamQueens/gallery/.htaccess.
I'm not sure is going to work. I found this advice on Google and I don't have a website to test if this actually works.
