It is posible to modify the albums, but not the picture info as described here:

When you are in admin mode there is a menu displayed next to each album


I have no such menu.
What is wrong with my installation? (1.2)

You're in the wrong place.  While logged in as administrator and viewing album lists, that is where you will see the menu described...

The reason was: I had not diplayed an alblist.
