Remove install_classic?

Okay, stupid question but do I also need to remove the install classic.php files? 

I always remove the install.php after an upgrade or new install, but wasn't sure about the other file

You don't need to remove them. If you want to remove them (for whatever reason), it won't affect your gallery.
