If i upgrade i will lose my custom modifications
« on: July 26, 2014, 02:08:47 pm »

Hello.
I`m running Coppermine version: 1.5.24 and i want to upgrade to the latest stable version. If i upgrade my coppermine script i will lose my facebook comments and google adsense code modifications that i have added in script files?
I can`t remember what files and code i have added to get facebook comments and google adsense to work in coppermine so i don`t want to lose them :(

All the coppermine files need to be replaced (not the albums directory, anycontent.php and include/config.inc.php).
Read here: http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/upgrading.htm.

Read this thred to add facebook comments and like to your theme not to coppermine files.
The code is made by Andre and is perfect: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,76925.0.html.

How to add adsense: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,77565.0.html
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,77566.0.html

I only have my theme and I deleted all other themes from the themes folder.Users that know coppermine can type in their browser your_domain/index.php?theme=eyeball to view the gallery with a diffrent theme with no adsense.
Example: http://imagini.moinesti.biz/index.php?theme=eyeball

Is very very easy to add facebook comments and adsense to copermine so is no problem to do it again after upgrade.
I hope you have access to your google adsense account to copy the code.

Is much better to update.

I looked at your gallery http://imagini.moinesti.biz/index.php.
If you ask me all the changes are in themes/curve
In template.html and theme.php in function theme_display_image and function display_media.
You do not need to replace the curve theme with the new files.

You also added adsense (links block) above each row of thumbnails.
Is against adsense policy because can be confused with title for the thumbnails. The will acuse you of trying to make users click you ads. They will delete your account with no way back if they will see that.Remove that.Shoud be in curve/theme.php function display_thumbnails or thumbnails_view.

Maybe i`l give it a try. I will save my files and look for my custom code and re-add it again. It could be better for coppermine to release a patch with only new files to upload to server and not to replace all files and do the custom work again, like joomla or vbulletin.

Feel free to use our SVN repository to update your gallery. That's how I updated my customized gallery before I put everything into plugins or used the theme engine.
