New server, database name issue.
« on: February 11, 2014, 03:34:42 am »

I've decided to move my server to a hosted (rather than self-hosted) site.  They have a system that automatically installs Coppermine but it also gives the database a generic name.  I deleted the database it created and imported my database but now I get this error message when I try to run Coppermine the first time:

Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Unknown database 'zfn_lcejjbdk51'

I'm sure there is an easy fix but I don't know it, so what do I do?

They have a system that automatically installs Coppermine...
Please don't use that... We won't be able to support you.

Coppermine's include/config.inc.php and your database name and credentials must match....

A fresh install giving the installer your desired database credentials, then importing your data should get everything in synch, and have you on a current version (1.5.26) and supportable by developers here.

You can just upgrade to current package, and fix the config issue manually if you prefer - but please use our package.

Thanks.

I've ran my own server for over a decade so I'm just learning what I can and can't do with a hosted server.  If I can figure out how to install it manually, I will.

At this time, is there a editable file that I can change the database name or is this buried somewhere?

Yes, as per the post from gmc above the credentials are in /include/config.inc.php

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Thanks, that got me going.  I'm hoping that they got the install done as Coppermine intended with no alterations and there won't be any hang ups.  The did have an additional option for updating the versions too.  I'll keep my backup of the database no matter what.

It's just for family photos so if I have to start from scratch, no one will be too upset.
