Image Uploads max of only 55k
« on: September 06, 2013, 10:13:45 pm »

Fresh install of cpg15x! And absolutely no luck!!

This is very frustrating to me! My max upload and post sixe is set to 128M. But any attempt to upload an image that is over 55k I get an Upload Error: 500.
I have gone through the boards for over 4 hours and have not found a definitive answer on how to get images into this gallery.

Also being fully plagued with Runtime Notices on:
/include/inspekt/cage.php
/include/init.inc.php
/bridge/coppermine.inc.php
/include/functions.inc.php
/bridge/udb_base.inc.php
/themes/curve/theme.php
/include/themes.inc.php
/upload.php

I have used Menalto Gallery2 and adjusted PHP.ini to get 300dpi images up and available for downloads.... but I cant get any traction with this setup. Can someone please advise me on what I can do or even tell me if I am wasting my time with this software.

Thanks!

If you give your host the exact time that you get the 500 error the logs should tell us exactly what is going on.

Also please read the upload troubleshooting section of the docs and post all the information it asks for so we can be better placed to help you.

Phill, do you need my server logs or the log report that I see when I log into my Coppermine?

A 500 error is server related. It means that it has tried to do something it cannot or is not allowed to do. The error is generic and it is the server error log at the exact time of the incident that you need to look at. If you do not understand the messages just post the messages that appear at the exact time of the problem. Where those logs are in your server depends on how your host has set things up. By knowing the exact time it makes the correct entry easy to find as the logs can be very large.

Also read this section of the docs and do as outlined so we can test - http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/upload_troubleshooting.htm#upload_trouble

Here is the error I get from the server log Mon Sep 09 08:47:36 2013] [error] [client 71.184.102.10] File does not exist: /home/schyll5/public_html/vault5/500.shtml

Also I have checked my permissions on all folders and tried them both ways, 777 and 775.

When I try to upload using the simple method I get this error:
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@vault5.schylling.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Is there anything else in the server logs nearby that time? That looks like the 404 error to me.

You said it was possible to upload larger files with the Gallery2 software. If it's still installed on your server (or if it can be restored/re-installed easily), can you please test if it still works? I don't see a reason that it should fail for Coppermine, as we don't use any extravagant code.

The GalleryII install I have is still working perfectly. So I am not sure why I keep getting the 404 errors. Here is the error log file that I just got from the server after trying to upload another image:

Maybe one or more Coppermine files have been corrupted during upload. Please replace them with copies from the Coppermine package (the same procedure like performing an upgrade).

Those error messages doesn't make sense to me why you get an 500 error message.

In addition to Andre's advice please check your .htaccess file if you have one as this can sometimes throw up errors such as this though I wouldn't think that would cause uploads to sometimes work and sometimes not.

The only thing that is in my .htaccess file is: # To set your custom php.ini, add the following line to this file:
 suphp_configpath /home/schyll5/public_html/php.ini

I have replaced all the files via FTP and still have the same results. Maybe its time to abandon Coppermine.

Just to make sure it's not the .htaccess file which causes the trouble, please delete it and try again. Does batch-add works as expected?

I have removed the htaccess file and still have the same results. I think my next approach will be a completely new install. Basically starting from scratch.

Ok, I did a fresh install of coppermine, made the maximum upload size to 128mb in the config. And still cant upload a file that is 180KB. Still get the same error 500. In my debug logs I can see this:

max_input_time           60
upload_max_filesize      128M
post_max_size            128M
memory_limit             128M

I'm at a dead end here. All I can do is to ask you to contact your hosting provider about that issue, maybe they have some more useful information. Maybe someone else has a better idea.
