You can just select/download a new theme if it's not compatible. You have to know that there are two "compatibility levels". The first one is the optical compatibility (CSS classes, etc.), but the technical compatibility is more important. The more your theme.php file contains, the more likely it is that something won't work after the upgrade. But your theme looks like there are not much changes in the theme.php file.

Incredible! I've just discovered that actually, Hostgator didn't lift restrictions as they said they had, I've had three people contact me to say they can't access the page.
The page was working just a few moments ago. I suggest using a third party to take a look for you when it appears to be down.
Try:
    network-tools.com + downforeveryoneorjustme.com
(there are many others to use also)

Thanks for your help guys, the gallery went live properly about an hour after I posted on here last. I sent a sharp email to Hostgator support. CPU usage now seems to be under control (thanks Andre) so now time to upgrade.

I'm going in...

Hello I just write in this topic cause I have the same problems with Hostgator. I remove all unactive plugins and themes. I disable a photo details, automatic language. I also disable uses uploads and registration and block some IPs. There aren't any changes. A lot of problems and downtime. I also make upgrade of CMS and now I am with lates version of Coppermine Gallery. I've got about 5000 visits per day and I don't think that it's too high to move on dedicated server how the HostGator's support advice me.

Here the support latest email:

Hello,

This message is to advise you of a temporary block placed on your account. This account was found to be consuming an inordinate amount of processor time, to the point of degrading overall system performance. While we do limit each account to no more than 25% of a system's CPU in our terms of service, we do not actively disable accounts until they greatly exceed that number, which is what happened in this case.

Requests to this scripts under this account may become degraded by limiting the abilty for scripts to run for a limited amount of time, or if the issue persists, we may be forced to restrict how fast processes can be spawned until the issue has been resolved.

We recommend taking steps to reduce the overall CPU usage for the account, which may be as simple as generating a flat HTML page for popular content, or enabling caching that is available through many popular scripts, or disabling high CPU usage features such as searches or Ajax refreshes. Although we may not be able to help in all cases, we would be more than happy to assist if you are unable to determine any cause, or if you need help interpreting any of the information.

I am ready to pay if someone. It's interesting that at December 2012 and Janury 2013 before Google's change of Image Search Browsing I have 60%-70% more traffic without any problems.

Hi terzo

5000 visits a day is too many for Hostgator on their shared server, I have another website that doesn't run Coppermine and it was at around that level that I had to move away from Hostgator, because my site was being disabled by them four or five times per month.

As it's a shared server, the terms and conditions say you must not exceed something like 25% of the total CPU on that server at any time, with around the same number of visitors a day that you are currently getting, I used to exceed that CPU level regularly, sometimes hitting 90%.

It hurts, moving to a better server, I now pay $100 a month for my hosting for just one website, I think it's definitely time for you to look at upgrading your server as well, I do not think this is a Coppermine issue.

Good luck.

For anyone in the UK I can heartily recommend Bytemark.co.uk and one of their VM setups. They kindly donate the hosting we use for this very site and we het far more than 5000 per hour. Some shared hosts are very tight with their limits which is good for their profits.

I have some addon sites into main account. I will move all of them to a diffrent acc. If the problems are continued I will looking for dedicated server. The earnings aren't so hight thats why i want to try all i have before i move do managed server.

@dogwalks
Was your problems with CPU Usage were solved after moving?

@Phill Luckhurst
I'm using USA hosts and probably i will chose server in to a HostGator. I just don't want to change IPs. Its strange that before a couple of mounth I had 50% more traffic than now and no problems, but it could be from something else... who knows.

Thank you for replies, guys. They were helpful for me.

Yes the problems were all solved when I moved to a new hosting, the site I am talking about is a WordPress site, I went with a company called Lightning Base (USA) who offer managed hosting with built in CDN, security and other features that make websites load faster. Not sure, but I think they only host WordPress websites though, so although I highly recommend them, I don't think you will be able to use them. Where ever you go, shop wisely though, one quote I got after supplying the host company with full details of my traffic was over $600 a month!

By the way, before I moved from Hostgator I did all sorts of tweaks, I removed plug-ins that were a bit heavy on the load, I compressed images, disabled some features, all sorts of stuff, just to try and stay with them but for my situation, it was the traffic that really caused the problems so until you move, I think you will continue to be shut down on a regular basis.
