New Installation:Passwords don't match, you used illegal characters or didn't pr

I am a new user. I am stuck on the 9th step with everything going smoothly up until then. I am persistently getting the following msg even after 20 or so tries.

Passwords don't match, you used illegal characters or didn't provide one. I have tried everything but there is no way Coppermine installation program (renamed Gallery) will accept the matched pair of passwords. I have deleted the 'include/config.inc.php' file.

can someone pls suggest a way forward?

If you start from scratch you also have to delete the corresponding database. It also won't hurt to re-upload all Coppermine files, maybe one or more got corrupted during upload.
