Bridging Basics 101
« on: August 21, 2012, 08:27:24 pm »

Hello there,
I have almost no knowledge about php and all the other stuff.
I made a website and I just wanna have a damn gallery on it.

I'm using coppermine and I was trying to bridge the damn thing to get a gallery going on but I seem to fail infinitely!
I'm trying to bridge coppermine using phpBB Version 3.

I get this message:

../config.php doesn't exist. Correct the value you entered for Relative path to your bridge app's config file

I tried a million different combinations and it doesn't work.

Do I need to have my website live to be able to Bridge the damn thing?  Or I can be in the build mode? I didn't publish yet because the website is not ready yet but maybe I need to do so in order to bridge.

HELP HELP HELP

What is build mode? Do you have it installed on a local server?

Did you follow the documentation?
http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/bridging.htm

If your setup is not local you should have a link to your gallery.
http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/bridging.htm#integrating_standalone_start

Read this for the information we need.

So....what I did was....I got on GatorHost and I'm building my website with their "BaseKit Site Builder" then I wanted to make an image gallery and they suggest to go on Fantastico.
I did and I chose coppermine since it seemed to be the best.
Then from Fantastico I installed coppermine and then decided to use the phpbb Version3.

I then uploaded some pictures and created a gallery.
I tried to bridge but I can't manage to understand what the hell I've gotta do.

At this point I'm kind of lost.....

My website URL is

http://www.cutawayskydiving.com

I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and www.cutawayskydiving.com:

../board/config.php doesn't exist. Correct the value you entered for Relative path to your bridge app's config file

Coppermine install: I dunno how to find
Bridging app install: I dunno how to find
Coppermine version: cpg1.5.0
Bridging app version: I dunno how to find
Test user account: Not sure what you need

BridgeManager settings:
Bridge app URL:  http://www.cutawayskydiving.com/gallery
Relative path to your bridge app's config file:  ../
Cookie name or prefix:  cpg15x
Use bridge app custom groups?:  1

SORRY I don't know ****.....but I dunno what to do about it

We don't support autoinstallers.
http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/auto-installers.htm

I use HostGator on occasion and there's no need to use any of those automated site building tools, they are usually junk.
Our install is quite easy, if you follow the instructions.
http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/install.htm

You should probably install phpbb using their instructions as well.

Okay,
I read that you guys r against the autoinstaller thing.
Then I'm gonna delete the installation and try by installing your way.
Thank u very much for helping out......and.....I'm sure I'll be bothering you again soon..as soon as I fail by trying the "easy" way to install......lol

By the way.....why is such hell to get a damn phoogallery on a website? Is there any way for me to just make a gallery and imbed the thing like if it was a youtube video?

Coppermine is more then a simple gallery.

If you want a simple gallery search something like:
https://www.google.com/#q=embeddable+photo+gallery

Please limit your vulgarities, I've already censored you once.

So....I installed FileZilla.
I connected to the server

ftp@cutawayskydiving.com

Now I'm trying to import an XML file to the server from the Coppermine folder and I found two different ones.

osd.xml in the Opensearch folder

AND

cpg15x.files.xml

When I try to import FileZilla tells me that there are no importable data.

Now what should I do?

Thanks

Okay....so apparently I didn't access to a FTP account but to a special FTP account.
I just created an FTP account and I'm uploading the folder......all files are uploading correctly.

Please let me know if what I'm doing makes no sense at all or if I'm the right path

Okay....I was able to upload all files to FileZilla and change permission to 777.
I also had to create a database. I didn't put any columns in it because coppermine will do that on its own.

Now I'm ready to install coppermine but when I put the following:

http://www.cutawayskydiving.com/gallery/install.php

A gator page opens up saying that the page was not found. Looks like your page was moved or never created.

Please Help....I'm stuck

1. Check which is the root folder for your FTP user
2. Check which folders you created with that user

Now enter the correct path. Obviously, the following path doesn't exist: http://www.cutawayskydiving.com/gallery/
