thumbnails with poor quality...
« on: June 25, 2012, 04:50:08 pm »

Hello! So I'm having a few problems in my gallery: http://matthew-atkinson.com/photos/index.php you see the thumbnails, especially those darker than the others, you can see they look poorly, they even seem unsharped, which isn't the case.

I have the Unsharp Mask marked as yes, and the settings are:
200%
0.5
4

I tried to use the default unsharp settings and updated the latest album to see if there was any different, however they keep looking poorly...
Plus, unmarked the unsharp mask and the 'noise' disappeared, but the images looked dull.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you!

Note: Almost forgot! I changed from GD2x to imagemagick, I don't know if that would help, but it didn't.

I also thought this could be something with my host, since I don't have this  problem with other gallery, but I know this one has the same settings as mine and the thumbnails are looking perfect... http://kaleycuocophotos.com/

Can you give me links to specific thumbs that you are seeing the problem with? When I look at any of your dark thumbs it seems they are os a similar brightness level to the fullsize image which is as expected.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I am not sure how to explain this, but here http://matthew-atkinson.com/photos/albums/television/janebydesign/season1/captures/episode13/thumb_jbd13_007.jpg the thumb looks grany, around him. but for example, with the same settings but in other gallery, the thumbs are looking fine http://elise-gatien.com/gallery/albums/moviestv/secretcircle/captures/thumb_elisegatiencom0139.jpg...
