Error Executing ImageMagick Return Value 11
« on: May 23, 2012, 06:59:07 pm »

I want to tell you a story.   I'm adding this post for anyone who searches for Return Value 11 error and doesn't get any help from the other posts.

I've finally got around to updating PHPBB3 to the latest version, but took the opportunity to shift from a blah gallery to Coppermine, which is awesome.   I did this a while ago but kept it offline since I had a project running in the forum.   I tested coppermine with a copy of the forum and all worked perfectly.    Near the end of my testing, my wife (and owner of the company) wanted me to set square thumnails so I set them to exact and also set the sharpening on.    All seemed fine. Although I guess I hadn't fully tested uploading.

This morning I go live and start getting upload errors when adding certain images - Error executing ImageMagick return Value 11.  Not being an ImageMagick expert I looked through the forum without much help.    I tried unbridging from PHPBB and running stand alone and got the same message.
I even went as far as installing a fresh version of coppermine and bridging and it worked!

So I started changing the settings back to the same as my test gallery and the new one stopped working.

I backed out the settings one by one and it started working when I turned the thumbnail sharpening off.

SO, the point is, if you get the Return Value 11 error, check the sharpening option first and then try backing out of any changes you may have made.

Other than this minor glitch, I'm amazingly happy with coppermine.  It's integrated well with the website and forum and even the less than tech users should find it all pretty easy....
