Method used to sort files.
« on: March 21, 2012, 04:07:15 am »

What method does Coppermine use to sort files?

We have a filename   N-201203-surname-first-picture title.jpg    when uploading this long file name, which is the only identification, of a file, have found some anomalies when sorting these files within the thumbnail page folder, which has two pages (6x5) used to display a total of 45, one thumbnail will go missing whilst another will show twice. To correct this, the file title name is added, otherwise this remains blank.

As the first 9 letters and numbers (N-201203-) are the same for each image in a folder, can Coppermine sort on these or are there restrictions using this method.

To what depth within the file name does Coppermine sort?   Does the dash (-) cause restrictions?

If necessary I will modify the filename to suit.

thanks

Rob

There are no restrictions, but you can choose the default sort order in the config. I guess you already choose "order by filename"? Please also post a link to your gallery, especially where we can see
one thumbnail will go missing whilst another will show twice.

Ill set up a gallery folder to demonstrate.

All the folders at present have the titles entered, and this does not occur after this is done.
