Multiple-Groups at album
« on: July 14, 2011, 02:06:45 pm »

Hi,

I wont use CPG to share pictures with models. Each model should view you own picturs and another group should view all pictures of all models. How can I administrate this without to give any user admin-rights?

Unfortunately you can only assign one group to each album in cpg1.5.x.

To answer your question we need more information. Should every model just see their own pictures, but no other pictures?

Who are the people in the group which can view all pictures?

Are you the only person who uploads pictures to the gallery?

Hi André,

thanks for your fast reply.

Every model should see her own pictures, but the pictures are in different albums if there more than one shooting each model.
The people who view all pictures are at the moment photographer or friends.

Currently its okay for me if I'm the only person who uploads pictures.

Without modifying core code the following may be the easiest solution.

Create a new group "Models", so you'll have the following groups for your regular users:
  • Registered
  • Models

Assign the model accounts to the "Models" group and your friends'/photographs' accounts to the "Registered" group.

Now set the gallery that guests have to login to see any pictures.

Now the tricky part begins. Either you have to upload the model's pictures with the model's account to the album(s) or you do that yourself with your admin account and assign the owner later (that has to be done via SQL or a plugin has to be created).

At least, set the album permissions that just users of the "Registered" group can access the albums.

The first steps I always have done. Only the last step was missed.

Thanks for the trick to fake the ownership to the models own.
My last problem is, that I have always user in the group "registered" who show 'normal' pictures. All pictures with topless only for models or friends/photographs.

Create a group for friends/photographs and set the album permissions accordingly.
