AVI or WMV Movie Files
« on: July 04, 2011, 03:03:32 am »

I uploaded an AVI file that seems to take forever to start playing back.

I converted the same file to WMV and it starts playing back almost instantly.

The problem with the WMV files is that you can jump forward in the movie as you can with the AVI movies.

I have tried to find anything that might have been written about this, but failed to come u with anything.

Does anyone know why the AVI files take so long to start? Is there anything I can do to make them start faster like the WMV files do? It really would be nice to be able to move forward in the movies, which the WMV files apparently will not do.

Any help would be appreciated.

I meant to say that you CAN'T jump forward in the video as you can with an AVI file.

Because it will be downloaded completely and then starts to play.

It's recommended to use the Flash Media Player plugin for video files. It uses flash to play video files instantly, but you need to convert your video files to FLV or MP4 if you want to use it.
