I just installed phpBB 3.0.8 ( http://littleblueumbrella.com/forum/ )
I also just installed Coppermine Photo Gallery v1.5.12 ( http://littleblueumbrella.com/gallery/ )

Relative Path to your bridge app's config file: ../forum/

Use bridge app custom groups?:    1

So I'm still having this issues as here:
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,72146.0.html

And I'm attempting to solve number 2.  I thought I'd try assigning the albums to the groups themselves so that they can upload to the albums I made specifically for them to upload in.  But it's just throwing me back to the forum memberlist where I cannot assign albums.  Shouldn't this function work with a bridge?  I guess that I thought the whole point of a bridge is so that the gallery and forum would both fully work, and that the members not have to sign in to both separately and that groups would be recognized, which would make it function correctly.  So far this is not happening with any group other than those assigned admin status.

I think the feature you're looking for doesn't exist yet in Coppermine. Please read the docs: http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/albums.htm#album_prop_controls_album_can_be_viewed_by
