'all things concerning the website' for regular users
« on: November 10, 2010, 08:32:49 pm »

Seems that something went wrong during the update of the board software.

Was that a upgrade package, or the patch?

Sorry, not wishing to hijack this thread.  Andre, is there anywhere to post about problems with this site?  Anything other than coppermine support forums is off limits to us.  When you look at your own posts via your profile, the pages are really wide if they contain any long code.  This doesn't happen in the forums.  ???  (Viewed in IE8).

I don't know, as I didn't performed the update.

I don't think so. Maybe we can change that. Needs some discussion.

If that's an general SMF issue, it should be posted in their support board ;)

I'll split your post for better clarity.

(can't find answer jn threads, maybe I haven't looked well).
How can I change "surename" to "First Name" in Register? "surename" (which should be "Surname" means the same as "last Name")
Thanks anybody!! (Please be very clear, I'm "blonde")

We don't support third party apps. This thread is for users who want to tell us, that something is wrong with our website.

Ok, then I might as well point out that in "register" the word "surename" does not exist or make sense, and I believe you mean "First Name". Otherwise the correct spelling is Surname, and that means the Last Name. A small thing, but it needs to be mentioned sooner or later.

Where exactly do you see that word? I cannot find it anywhere.

Are you kidding me? You already reported that issue to the cpgShop plugin thread, where it belongs to:
Just a little thing I'd like to mention Stramm, "Surname", "Name" and "Last Name" all mean the same thing, so I would advise to use "First Name" and "Last Name" to save any confusion?

Coppermine itself don't has those fields in the registration form, that's why I had to ask you three times what you're talking about. Even though, you aren't allowed to hijack other's threads but start a new thread for each issue according to the board rules.

This thread was an attempt to give regular users the possibility to report issues that are not related to Coppermine. As Joachim said before, it will be abused. Congratulations, you just confirmed his apprehension.

I don't pretend to be knowledgable about threads, and I apologise for butting in, it was inadvertent, not deliberate sabotage, and i confused "web site" with the program itself. Yes I reported that issue to Stramm concerning cpgShop in his billing/postal  address registration forms, but in this case it concerns the coppermine prog itself when registering, not his problem.
I close my case.

I don't think so. The cpgShop plugin adds those lines to the registration page. Uninstall the plugin and you'll see the registration form don't has anything like 'surename', that's what I already tried to explain you:
Coppermine itself don't has those fields in the registration form

So that issue is only related to Stramm's plugin, but not to the Coppermine package.

When viewing the 1.5.x demo page, if I click on the the "Twentyten theme the theme dropdown bar disappears from the top of the page, so you can't get to the other themes.  Closing the demo and re opening still comes up with the twentyten theme.

I have to reset it by adding  ?theme=xxx  to the end of the url to get it back.

Not a biggy, Just thought I'd mention it. ;)

Thanks. I already recognized that but hadn't time to look at that issue yet.

Spam is getting out of hand on here now.  Do you have any antispam mods installed?

I'd recommend this one Stop Spammer  And this one, httpBL  Both mods can be installed together.

The first one checks against the Project Honeypot database. http://www.projecthoneypot.org/  The second one checks all your members new and old against the Stop forum spam database. http://www.stopforumspam.com/

I'll look into it at the weekend. I too have noticed an increase in spam of late. We may just have to increase once again the complexity of the capcha.

Phill, thanks.

I thought I'd mention those mods because we use them over at the Tinyportal support site.  they are working very well since we installed them.  We are running SMF2 RC4, but those mods work equally as well on SMF 1.1.12 which you are running here. ;)
