Category Display
« on: September 29, 2010, 07:44:42 pm »

When I go to create a Category or a Sub Category I noticed the last one does not show up until another one is created.

Right now I created a dummy category  in order have the ones I want show up.

Number of levels of categories to display in the config does not fix this.

Any Ideas

Sorry my bad I was on my way out he door and forgot to add the link.

Andre'  To answer your question   What's the advantage of showing empty categories?

The empty Categories are not showing.   I keep moving the Empty Categories named A to the bottom as I add another one either as a Main Category or Sub Category so the ones I want will show up.

As you see on the main page http://www.svpa-ghost-watch.org/multimedia/gallery15/  I actually have 5 Catagories only 3 show up.

1st    Susquehanna Valley Pennsylvania Ghost Watch Investigations.

2nd   Team Member's Personal Galleries

3rd    Supporting Member's Personal Galleries

4th   User Galleries

5th   A

If I delete the Catagory A which is empty.  Supporting Member's Personal Galleries disapears from the main page. It is there but not showing until I add another Category and move it to the bottom of the list then Supporting Member's Personal Galleries will show back up.  This is the same for Sub Categories. I have to create an empty one.

These 3 are all I plan to have as far as main categories on the main gallery page.
I will add sub categories to them as needed.

1st    Susquehanna Valley Pennsylvania Ghost Watch Investigations.

2nd   Team Member's Personal Galleries

3rd    Supporting Member's Personal Galleries

The only one that will show up is User Galleries if I add an album and picture to a user. Then it appears below or above depending on where I have it on the list.

I tried adding an album and picture to categories, or subcategories that did not work, the  only way to show all my categories or subcategories I want to display is to have an empty one at the bottm of the list.

Since there is no other check box option to display number of categories in the config other than Number of levels of categories to display, that did not fix this.  I am thinking the theme I am using Dark Velvet  s not displaying it corectly. Only thing I modified on the theme is the style sheet for color and effects.

I hope this explains it.

Ok I tried every theme It still does the same thing.  Right now it is on the Classic theme http://www.svpa-ghost-watch.org/multimedia/gallery15/index.php

As you can see I am missing one Category from the mainpage Supporting Member's Personal Galleries.   It is in the list under categories along with User Categories.

If I add one more category then Supporting Member's Personal Galleries shows up.

If I add another than User Galleries shows up.

I can work around it by adding a blank category and put it at the bottom of the list. Just means I have to do this for every Sub Category also extra work.

Thanks

Please post a screenshot of your category manager, showing all categories. Or even better attach a dump of your category and categorymap database tables.

Is your gallery an update from cpg1.4.x or a fresh installation of cpg1.5.x?

Just imported your category dump and it works as expected for me (see attached screenshot).

Please attach a dump of your config table. Maybe some of the settings causes that behavior.

That doesn't answer my question if it's an update from an cpg1.4.x gallery or if it's a clean install of cpg1.5.x.
