Customizing Custom Field
« on: June 26, 2010, 12:05:45 am »

I don't know how to make the allowed text inside the custom field longer.
It seems its being capped at some number and I would like to remove the cap and be able to post things on multiple lines.

Is this possible?

Would need edits of many files, as the maximum length limitation is determined by the field definition for the database. To avoid errors, the input fields are limited in length as well. If you need to change this, you'll have to change some core files and you'll have to repeat that modification for each maintenance release, which can be a time-consuming task. I can not recommend looking into this. Coppermine is a gallery application btw. If you need to tell stories, you may be better off with a blogging app, where the focus is on bigger ammounts of text and less images.

Thanks for the reply, sounds like a complicated task... I'll just try and fit everything into description!
