Backend server change question
« on: June 23, 2010, 01:55:01 am »

I'm changing the back end of my server setup in terms of folder structure and couldn't find an answer if doing so would need a re-install. I am clueless about how the back end of the gallery works so sorry if this is a stupid question, I couldn't locate it in the moving server documentation or via previous threads and want the transfer to go as smoothly as possible.

current server setup: public_html/domain/ at http://www.jennifer-lawrence.com/pictures/
same server new setup: public_html/websites/clients/domain/ at http://www.jennifer-lawrence.com/pictures/

Would this require no changes besides the obvious back end folder move or would I need to re-install and resync to the database due to it setting back end paths during the install?

Thanks

Actually that piece of documentation is there, you appear not to have searched hard enough: http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/export.htm#moving
In other words: no, you don't need to perform a re-install. All file locations of the images you have uploaded are stored relative to the albums folder, so the entire coppermine structure can be moved around easily. You just need to apply one config change after moving.
