Hi all so i have set up the galleries setting etc but when a user uploads and image they are also able to edit the albums preferences i do not wan them to be able to do this.

All i need them to do is upload images to public albums and thats it.

They are allowed to edit the album properties of the albums they own - their personal albums. They are not allowed out of the box to edit the properties of albums within public (admin-created) categories. Therefore, disallow them to have personal galleries and instead allow them to upload to albums that you have created for them.

Check your gallery's group permissions as suggested by Joachim.
