Photos gone from gallery help please!
« on: June 12, 2010, 08:39:29 pm »

Hi everyone this is my first post on here and I’m a little confused so I thought I’d ask for help! My friend has come back from her holiday to find that the 'uploads' folder (which contained all of her album subfolders) is no longer there in her FTP which means none of her photos are displaying on the site gallery! The gallery is located here - http://www.michaelrosenbaumonline.co.uk/cpg14x/index.php

I really don’t know what's caused this and any help would be greatly received!

Thanks in advance,

Lou

Coppermine critical error:

Check your file and directory structure and ensure you have all necessary files. The galler might have been compromised in some way, or an errant FTP command may have resulted in deletion of folders/files.

<!--Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.4.25 (stable)-->

Gallery should be updated to 1.4.27 anyway.

The http://www.michaelrosenbaumonline.co.uk/cpg14x/albums/uploads/ directory contains an .htaccess file or is CHMOD to 711 (or equivalent denial). Review that folder for suspicious files or remove the access restriction for our review.

Either way, unless you have a full backup, it appears at this point that the http://www.michaelrosenbaumonline.co.uk/cpg14x/albums/uploads/sv2vortex/ folder and everything under is gone.

Have you done anything that could have contributed to the loss? When did you last work on the gallery? When did you first notice the problem(s)?

Hi, thank you so much for your replies! I haven’t touched the gallery for months as i set the gallery up and then my friend uploads files as and when she needs to and only accesses the uploads file and then batch adds them to the gallery.

She went away and come back today to find this but I’m unsure as to why this has happened mainly as i haven’t come across this before. Is it best to start again with the uploads files and go from there or even start again with the gallery?

I really can't tell you what's best for you, but I can tell you that if you had a backup, restoring your gallery would be a matter of a few FTP clicks. Apparently that's not the case? If you don't have a backup, your options are limited. You either recreate from what you have or you rebuild starting from whatever point you see fit. Either way, you need to upgrade to version 1.4.27.

You don't seem very concerned, however, as to why this happened. If you don't identify the source of the problem, it's likely to happen again.

Begin by checking your server's access logs. See who and when has write access to your stuff. Check the logs for the Coppermine folders and narrow down the source IP. Because unless you or your friend deleted the folder(s), someone else has write access to your stuff and that shouldn't be.

Anyway, you need to decide the best course of action to take here. Whatever's easiest for you.
