Hi,

downloaded and uploaded the tr files to coppermine 1.5.8.
special turkish characters are not showing propery.
then checked the language file turkish.php it wasn't utf 8 encoded it was utf 16.
just for a try correct a few of the special characters and save it with utf 8.
working fine.
but needs a lot of intention.
some of the terms which shouldn't be translated to any other language than english sounds funny.
like dropdown menu, cookies, etc.
and a little correction needed in the file is for the word 'category'. it must be 'kategori' not 'katagori'.

Thanks to SITKI

Sitki's translation that resides in the subversion repository and subsequently inside the package is fine as far as encoding is concerned. Don't use the attachment, but the file that resides in the package/repository. Deep link to the Turkish language file in the subversion repository is http://coppermine.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/coppermine/trunk/cpg1.5.x/lang/turkish.php?view=log
If you have issues with the language file, post a link to your gallery for a start.

The main issue I could see is the fact that Sitki hasn't based his translation on the English language file, but on the German language file. Subsequently, all untranslated passages will shine through in German, which is fine for Turks living in Germany. The actual fallback feature of Coppermine is meant to show untranslated strings in English, that's why I have changed the Turkish language file in rev 7855 to only contain the lines that actually have been translated so far. For those who want fallback to German, the older version is fine. For all others, use rev 7855 or better.
