igames_widescreen http 406
« on: April 16, 2010, 05:49:53 pm »

Came upon this accidentally. ie8 and firefox.

This is the sequence of events hat took place when I visited my site http:/www.gallery.sdnovascotian.ca/index.php and DID NOT sign in.

-clicked on a public picture

-clicked on pms above med pic

-recieved error: you have no per....

-went to the left and clicked on LOG IN

-put in the info and clicked log in and recieved this on the page instead of site:

''This error (HTTP 406 Not Acceptable) means that Internet Explorer was able to receive information from the website you visited, but the information was not in a format that Internet Explorer can display.

For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.''

You get the idea.

Is there a solution?

Actual link is http://www.gallery.sdnovascotian.ca/ (missing double slash in your copy).

-clicked on pms above med pic
What's a pms? What's a med pic.

-recieved error: you have no per....
What's the actual error message.

-went to the left and clicked on LOG IN
You failed to post a non-admin test user account.

No.

Is there a solution?
Hard to say if you're making it so hard for supporters to see your actual issue...

This is the sequence of events that took place when I visited my site  http://www.gallery.sdnovascotian.ca/  and DID NOT sign in.

-clicked on a public picture

-clicked on the blue PM message button above the medium sized picture shown.

-recieved error: 'You don't have permission to access this page.'  which was correct.

-went to the left of the page and clicked on the LOG IN button in the Menu

-put in the username and password information, then clicked on the Login button and recieved this error message on the page instead of the site page:

It looks like you are creating a faulty referrer tag.

Before this goes too far off mark, please reply - exactly which plugin are you using? Is there a link to it here?

Hi,

The plug in that would be involved is cpg_pms.

http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,47974.html

Do you think this is a plug in issue?  If it is then I am in the wrong forum and going to hear about it. LOL. It is hard to tell which forum to use when you are not sure of the problem.
But thank you. I hope this is what you asked for. I will wait for your reponse  before I do anything.

My issue is, why can I not login after the above mentioned error message. But I can log in if I click on the home button in the menu and after getting to homepage and clicking on the login button there, I am able to login.

The effect is not theme related - it also occurs when you use:
http://www.gallery.sdnovascotian.ca/index.php?theme=classic

Also, because I could log on with other referrer tags....
http://www.gallery.sdnovascotian.ca/login.php?referer=login.php%3Freferer%3Dindex.php

You should test the effect of other plugins you are running, isolate the issue and then post a request in the appropriate topic.

The plugin you refer to is badly written: if an anonymous visitor can not write a PM, then why can an anonymous visitor see the link to the PM in the first place? That's not a well-designed plugin imo. But: it's the plugin you have issues with, not Coppermine's core. The plugin you refer to goes unsupported. I already tried to explain that in the other thread were you reported another issue with that plugin. Don't use it if you have issues with it.
