Notice line 579: Undefined variable: iframe_startfolder
« on: March 27, 2010, 07:34:34 am »

Hi-

I had another post that I closed today because my galleries were fixed but now they're having the same problem again, etc it's line 579 this time instead of 577. I really don't get what's going on. I've researched Google and all through the forums and other people's posts and i can't find an answer to why this problem is occuring - not just to me but to other people as well.

I got through the batch add process and make all the way to the point where I want to select what folders to put my photos in and then i get kicked back to the file directory. I changed folders and files to 0777 but that's not working. I practiced changing the browsable interface, no luck on that either. I already upgraded to the new version like I was told to do in my last post and when I practiced uploading ONE photo yesterday it worked, but now I can't even get that to work.

Sorry, so it says the following when I actually get to the point of selecting a folder to place my photos in but it says the notice line 579... when i'm at the beginning of batch upload in the file directory.
/include/functions.inc.php
    * Notice line 2696: Undefined variable: i

I already told you in your other thread
That's not an error message, but a notice. Don't turn notices_display on if that bothers you or if you have no idea what it's good for and what it means.
In http://secretlifesource.com/gallery/ the test user account doesn't have upload privileges, so I can't tell what's wrong (if anything is wrong at all).
http uploads work as expected on the other site (see http://darenkagasofffans.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-665)
You're mixing two issues into one as far as I can see.

Ok, I changed the privileges, sorry about that. I'm wondering if the problem is within my theme...maybe I should just get rid of it and overwrite it and start fresh?

Well, if you think your theme is the culprit for any issues you have, you can override the default and directly access the upload using a core theme, as suggested in http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#theme_create_tipps

You indeed should have renamed your custom theme as suggested in http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#theme_create_rename

I strongly doubt though that upload issues are related to themeing.

For actual answers, decide for one of the galleries that you have mentioned so far and explain in detail what your actual issue is. Additionally, post a deep link to one of the files that you're trying to batch-add and that you are having issues with.

I guess I'm just gonna say this is solved because I overwrited the themes folder and got rid of my theme and now I can upload photos :) So it definitely had to be in there. Thanks, though.

Ok, I'm getting really upset. This isn't working. It worked for 5 pictures that I had on my ftp from my old computer. My old computer got a virus, so I bought a new one and it's a mac (my old one was a pc). Could that be causing the problems? Do I need to be using a certain theme? Like the mac theme? Right now, I'm focusing on the gallery: http://secretlifesource.com/gallery There's still a test account...username: test password: test

i go to batch add files, click through all of the right folders until i find the photos i want to upload and then I click ok and then select what album i want to put them in and then it just kicks me back to the main batch add file directory. Right now most of the photos and albums in the ftp are set to 0777. Does that need to be changed in the config? what about the ftp? I'm so lost.

And you said to post a deep link...i dont know what that is? I saw somewhere else that that means to post the link to the album I'm trying to put the photos in?

Hope this works.

For you and others wondering:

A deep link= h t t p://your_website.com/albums/your_folder_name/your_picture_name.jpg
With a everything complete - it is the actual location in/on your gallery's server.

So mlaumb, One link I found had this for the deep link
h t t p://secretlifesource.com/gallery/albums/Photoshoots/Magazine%20Outtakes/17MagShaiApril2010/Outtake_001.jpg

Which shows you are using spaces in your folder names. Eliminate them. Use only numbers, letters, - and _ for characters. Most servers do not like "funny" characters.

This is for you and others to remember.

Folder names do not = Album names (!)

But that picture you posted a link for has underscores and it worked to upload. All of my photos have underscores. That's what my screencap program does when it names them.

And sorry, but what does folder names do not equal album names mean??? I'm sorry, I'm really confused.

You need to a take step back. Re-read your Coppermine documents.

Using the batch add process.....
When you upload a file to your server you will put it into a folder within your albums directory on you webserver. You then need to create an album in Coppermine for those files.

The folder name must follow a convention for naming that your web server can use - it is a computer. Web server computers are not like home computers - you can't use just anything for naming folders and files.

The album name is something for people to see and use. It can be a completely different name from the folder name. You make your album names with your Coppermine interface.

The album name can have spaces - folder names should not.
Many users of Coppermine make this mistake.

I do not think there is any deeper explanation required - if you still don't understand, then please read up on your Coppermine Documents and do some studying about hosting/folders/etc..

I tried changing it up in ftp and just tried uploading photos again, but it's not working still. Something is wrong with this gallery: http://secretlifesource.com/gallery. I really think there is. My other gallery: http://darenkagasofffans.com/gallery works perfectly. I do everything i use to with that gallery and it still works. If I do everything the same with both galleries then there shouldn't be any reason why the secretlifesource one doesn't work. Is there anyone that can just go in my gallery with the account I gave and practice uploading photos?

I got a whole whopping 3 photos uploaded. Then it stopped working. What is going on?

%20 doesn't represent an underscore, but a space.

Do as I suggested and post a deep link to one of the files you're having issues with when batch-adding. The one that was posted by Joe (http://secretlifesource.com/gallery/albums/Photoshoots/Magazine%20Outtakes/17MagShaiApril2010/Outtake_001.jpg) is down for me (404 not found).
As Joe already suggested, you mustn't use spaces in folder or file names. You mustn't use dots in folder names. You should avoid capitalization (use all-lovercase) both for file names as well as folder names.

When I try to access http://secretlifesource.com/gallery/ I'm being sent to the installer, which is an indicator that you have messed with the entire gallery (not a bright idea).
