Hi, all.

I need to know how to get the gallery to load (by default) to the only album that exists in the gallery, instead of the "status info" with the latest image(s) added above and some thumbnails below.

I'm not really sure how to clearly explain this in words. To see what I mean, this link loads the default gallery and this link loads the album proper, which is what I want the page to load to by default - so that that album is open.

(You'll have to scroll down to get to the gallery itself)

Thanks for anyone's help.

Either I didn't make sense in what I'm asking or I totally stumped the experts!

If you took a look at the links and still are not sure what I'm trying to do, let me know, please.

Thanks!

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me figure out how to address this.

I've got a client complaining and I don't know how to make it do what they want!

Thanks!

Mark, we don't care for your complaining client. Maybe you shouldn't accept jobs that you can't do by yourself and where you have to rely on others to do your work. The fact that nobody has replied even after two bumps usually means something - I suggest to ask yourself why... ::) On the site that you refer to in your profile you cliam to be someone else; even your signature

is designed to give the impression that you're a coder. If you can't do that simple little programming job, you should maybe be in another line of business.

The entire setup is silly, but if you must limit yourself so strangely, edit index.php and add some code that check if there have been additional parameters added to the URL. If that's not the case, redirect to the thumbnails page. Requires less than 10 lines of PHP code, but I'm not willing to think about it, as I find the idea silly. I find the design of the site bad as well - the page content being at the bottom nearly insible and a lot of blubber at the top. That's what porn pages do if you ask me.
If you only have one album, you don't need coppermine with all the features it has. A simple thumbnail page that allows visitors to access the full-size pics using some sort of lightbox would do the job better and much more efficiently. Coppermine is an app for those who need to organize their files into categories and album, so it is not meant for you if you only have one album.

Maybe you shouldn't accept jobs that you can't do by yourself and where you have to rely on others to do your work.
I'm not asking for someone else to do my work. I'm asking for help with a specific issue. And I suppose you just knew everything you needed to know without ever having to ask questions, right? You learned everything you know about programming completely by yourself, did you? Wow, your a genius! It's a shame that genius mind comes with a such an incredibly rude and judgemental personality.

On the site that you refer to in your profile you cliam to be someone else;
I have never misrepresented myself, so I don't have any idea what you are talking about. Everything in my profile is true and accurate.

even your signatureis designed to give the impression that you're a coder. If you can't do that simple little programming job, you should maybe be in another line of business.
Who are you to judge me? Is that why you are here? To make judgements about the people who come here asking for your help? I was going to justify myself by relating my experience, but that's not the point - the point is that you're making defamatory comments that have no basis because you don't have a clue about the person you are commenting on.

The entire setup is silly,
The entire setup was specified by the client. Once again, you're passing judgement on something about which you know nothing.

but if you must limit yourself so strangely, edit index.php and add some code that check if there have been additional parameters added to the URL. If that's not the case, redirect to the thumbnails page. Requires less than 10 lines of PHP code,
OH MY GOD! You actually provided something useful and non-judgemental in your post! I have no doubt you have viewed this thread at least once prior to posting. Why didn't you just post that then instead of going through this whole mess?

I find the idea silly. I find the design of the site bad as well - the page content being at the bottom nearly insible and a lot of blubber at the top.
Imagine that, something we agree about, but again, a requirement of the client. Whether I like it or not, in the end the client decides what the site looks like. If you've ever built a site for pay for someone you should know that. And there you go again - passing judgement on something that has nothing to do with the subject of the thread and how to resolve the posted issue.

That's what porn pages do if you ask me.
How dare you. You've got some nerve comparing my work and my client's site to porn.

I refer you back to my previous comments that the site choices are those of the client.

--

It is so obvious that you specifically spent time looking at my profile and looking at the web site with the explicit purpose of coming back here and posting these judgemental comments. Just two sentances in your entire post were relevent to the posted issue. The rest is completely off-subject. Speaking of which, let's talk about board rules - the rules that you are so fond of cramming down members' throats here:

Quote
Rule 10. One question per thread
I stuck to one question, but you sure as anything made a lot of comments that were completely unrelated to the posted issue and totally unnecessary and uncalled for.

Quote
Content
You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is defamatory,
How does comparing my work to porn not apply to this rule?

By that comment alone I would demand that you offer an apology for everyone to see here, but sadly, I highly doubt that will ever happen. Such is the opinion I have formed about the type of person you are.

I really feel sorry for you. It must be terrible being someone who spends so much energy on berating others.

Whether you delete this post or even this thread or not, or ban me entirely or not, I don't really care, because I will have some satisfaction in knowing that before that happens at least some people will have read this thread and will see you for who you are. If that doesn't bother you, then I wouldn't be suprised and I am right about what kind of person you are anyway...

Actually he is comparing the layout to that of many porn sites wher they put huge images with registration links and other garbage at the top before you get to (excuse the pun) meat of the site. I tend to agree with Joachim.

I was going to try and help you with come information on cmpfetch etc to try and help but your attitude has put me right off.

Maybe Americans just don't appreciate the way other languages translate  (especially German which by its nature is abrupt and to the point with none of the silly garnish that is common in the American use of the English language). It always seems to be Americans that argue and reply with overly long winded responses.

My attitude?

He had a possible solution, was it really necessary that he include all of that other, as you put it, "silly garnish"?

The fact that Joachim's native language is German, in no way excuses him from making personal judgements on subject matter completely off the thread topic. That, my friend, is against your own board rules.
