MiniCMS plugin for cpg1.4.x
« on: November 04, 2009, 07:55:01 am »

Why
This thread is a replacement for the outdated thread "CPG-CONTRIB: MiniCMS" and a follow-up for the thread "MiniCMS - Security Concerns". The site where the plugin orginally was hosted at went down, so we have created this substitute.

What it does
The MiniCMS plugin is a minimalistic Content Mangement System which allows the gallery admin to add / edit / delete pages. Typically this will be used by people who just want to add a few pages like About, Contact etc to their installs of coppermine but do not want full fledged CMS like Joomla.
It currently includes the ability to create stand-alone pages and add content to any category, album, or intermediate image page.
It has  a WYSIWYG editor which works in IE and Mozilla, and respects the admin rights from Coppermine

Obtaining the MiniCMS plugin
Download the plugin from the coppermine download repository at sourceforge.net (see bottom of this posting) or alternatively browse the subversion repository".

Install/Upload
Install the plugin as any other plugin using the plugin manager. Because of the size of the plugin (the archive is 1.3 MB, but uncompressed it contains 575 files and is 3.9 MB big), you should not use the http upload function (using the zip file upload and unarchiving on the server, i.e. method 1 from the docs) on the plugin manager screen. Instead, you should uncompress the plugin on your client and then upload the plugin using your favorite FTP application as suggested in method 2 of the documentation section uploading a plugin.

Credits
The original miniCMS code (by that time not a plugin, but a mod for cpg1.3.x) was written by Tarique Sani and Amit Badkas in 2004. The component eXtended miniCMS was created by Michael Trojacher in 2004. Donnovan Bray converted the mod into a plugin and added a lot of functionality. There have been various fixes and contributions, among others from Thu Tu and Joe Carver. The FCKeditor component comes from Frederico Caldeira Knabben. Thanks to all coders and all who contributed.

License
The MiniCMS plugin is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.

Support
There is only limited support for the MiniCMS plugin. Most importantly of all: there is no support on this thread. This thread is an announcement thread, where issues related to releases of the plugin and similar should be discussed. If you have an individual question related to the MiniCMS plugin, start a thread of your own on the regular support board, doing as suggested per board rules. All postings that do not respect the rules will be locked, ignored or deleted!

[Edit GauGau 2010-03-05]
This plugin has been updated as well to reflect the version checking routines in the plugin manager that are meant to make sure that galleries don't break because of plugins installed that aren't meant for that particular version of the gallery.

Joachim,

I want to upgrade to the 2.1 version of this great plug in.
Currently I run the 1,7 version.
How do I upgrade without losing my current MiniCMS content?

Harald
