Trying to rotate an image => blank page ?

I´m trying to rotate an image but i get always a blank page after i set "rotate" and "save" ....?

Hm - searched the boards but did not find any solution.
Cropping works but not rotating.
I`m on a managed server with many appications installed (Joomla, ffmpeg extensions and more) and I have no trouble with the server settings so far.
Upload size is limited to 64 MB !!

I have no idea why rotating does not work....
