Database gone!
« on: August 17, 2009, 08:12:15 pm »

Guys,
Just was informed by my hosting the database on my server is damaged and they have no backup! Is there any way to recover from this situation? I checked and I see all the files I just don't have a database anymore!

What is the path to recovery here?

Appreciate all the help.

In a word, no. Without the database you just have a collection of pictures in a folder.

All you can do is create a fresh install but keep the albums folder, recreate all your categories and albums then use the batch add tool to re add all your pictures.

I know it is now too late but from now on take regular backups of your database.

It might be worth trying to get whatever database your host still has. It may be that some tables are still in tact and could maybe be recovered.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
