I just installed coppermine and I am new to all this php and MySQL stuff. I am having a problem with my main page. It shows a blank album on the page and I don't know how to fix it. I tried to config with no alblist on it but then my other page also doesn't show the albumlist. Can someone help?

Ok,

you've created an album that is not in a category.  When in admin mode, you should see the delete/properties/edit pics buttons next to the thumb.  Just click delete. 
If you cant see the buttons, go to one of your other albums, click on 'properties', then click on the drop down album list box, to change to the empty album.  Now click on the 'album list' link in config, and you should see this album and the buttons.

If all this doesn't help, let us know.
