Critical Error Question
« on: July 21, 2009, 10:16:24 am »

Hello,

On my Coppermine Gallery, we have about 20 members where everything works perfect. They can upload and view, everything is great.

But we have 1 member who, when trying to upload photos, gets this message:

Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Unknown MySQL server host

He can view the gallery with no issues.

He initially tried using Chrome browser but has since used Firefox and IE but still gets the same error.

Weird that it is just one person.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

<I did search and read through 20 pages of threads but could not find one specific to this issue>

Answer remains the same no matter how often it get's posted: edit include/config.inc.php with a plain text editor and make sure that the file is intact, readable and that the information within it is correct.
For details, read up board rules and do as suggested there. Thanks.

I did read the board rules. I did verify the file is intact, readable, and that the information is correct. And I searched all threads to find a similiar issue.

Please notice my original thread where I mention that onely 1 person out of 20+ is having this issue.

So, unless there is something I do not understand, the include/config.inc.php file is working great.

See what I mean? We are all human here. You assumed I didn't read the rules since you didn't read the post. I will forgive. Will you?

The first thing you must do is upgrade to the latest release.

You are running "##  Coppermine version: 1.4.19" while the current release is 1.4.25

Oh forget it.

I guess no real help is provided for this product. Just a long trail of people giving reasons why they can't help.

I will find a different gallery option.

You did get help - you should learn to follow the advice you seek.

Your version is old - your gallery is open to hackers.

Your version is old and so could be your problem too.

EyeintheSky57, your reply is just a lame excuse.
You're still using the outdated version, so you're still vulnerable.
Fix that if you want us to look into your issues - we're not ready to look into issues that might be caused by people like you using outdated versions that have known flaws. Trying to bash us with replies like
I guess no real help is provided for this product. Just a long trail of people giving reasons why they can't help.
looks silly.

I will find a different gallery option.
Go ahead - on the site http://gunclangaming.com/gallery/ you're still using Coppermine. Try the alternatives if you're not fond of the app or the support given.
