Batch add files impossible
« on: July 12, 2009, 11:44:52 pm »

I tried the suggestions in the upload troubleshooting section and I searched the forum but I was unable to find the right solution: suddenly, I'm no longer able to Batch Add files via FTP. Link: http://www.kristen-online.net/gallery/
I checked and re-applied all the permissions. Nothing seems to change.
I usually use IM: if I tried to upload files over 1 MB, I get the PB error. Instead, if I try to use GD, i get the error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2798 bytes) in /home/kristeno/public_html/gallery/include/picmgmt.inc.php on line 412.
For smaller files, if I use IM I get the error: Error executing ImageMagick - Return value: 1
Cmd line :
/usr/bin/convert -quality 80 -antialias -geometry 60x99 'albums/etc./xxx-xxxx.jpg'
The convert program said:
convert: unable to open image `albums/etc./xxx-xxxx.jpg': Permission denied @ blob.c/OpenBlob/2403.
If this may help, my gallery is modded by STAMM, but I never got problem before.

i also created a test user

Username: test
Password: test

HTTP upload works fine, but I have tons of pictures to upload. :(

This is the debug:

The test user account doesn't have upload permissions. Do exactly as suggested in http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_support
Additionally, post a deep link to one of the files you're having issues with batch-adding.

First of all, thank you for your reply.  :)
I checked the upload permission, now it should work.
I apologize for being so ignorant, but... what is a deep link? Maybe the following one?

Quote
http://www.kristen-online.net/gallery/addpic.php?aid=144&pic_file=RXZlbnRzLzIwMDcvcG9ydHJhdGlzIGR1cmluZyB0cmliZWNhIGZmL1BvcnRyYWl0c2R1cmluZ1RyaWJlY2FGRi0wMDEzLmpwZw==&reload=4a5ae4b7851c3

I forgot to mention that the bigger files (such as the one I just tried to upload) disappear from my FTP folder when the upload is unsuccessful.

Thanks.

When logging in with the test user account and clicking on the upload link I get
Quote
Sorry there is no album where you are allowed to upload files
, which shows that you haven't bothered to test with the test user account. Stop wasting our time. Do your homework, then report back. A deep link to one of the files that you have issues with is not what you posted. Find out what the word "deep link" means by googling for that term.

I don't think you need to be harsh, since I'm being nice. You can say the very same things without being harsh.
I tested the test user and it worked for me, the only thing I forgot was to create an album for tester, which I apologize about.
As per the deep link, I should've probably specified that my question was related to the gallery only: I thought the link I posted was the right one since, as I mentioned, the files I have issues with suddenly disappear from the gallery and from my own FTP folder, so that it's hard for me to provide most proper links. I'll try again with the following link which, with the previous one, is unfortunately the only deep link to the file I can provide before the file itself disappears, forcing me to upload it again through FTP.

http uploads work as expected, see http://www.kristen-online.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-3816

http://kristen-online.net/gallery/albums/Events/2007/portratis%20during%20tribeca%20ff/PortraitsduringTribecaFF-0013.jpg contains capitalization and special chars / spaces inside the path, which is not a bright idea. Additionally, the file is ridiculously large both in terms of file size (4.3 MB) as well as dimensions (2798 x 4197), so it's small wonder that it can't be batch-added: you'd need 33 MB of RAM to process that single image, which something you probably don't have. Resize on the client before uploading. Use a naming scheme that makes sense on the web. Update to cpg1.4.25 (you have cpg1.4.23).

I don't think you need to be harsh, since I'm being nice. You can say the very same things without being harsh.
I could, but I don't want to, since I'm not your speaking puppet nor am I a parrot. You're not in the position to demand anything. You have done quite the opposite of what you're suppossed to when you started your posting, which shows that you're too lazy to read instructions. Why should I bother then and write detailed replies? They're right to the point and straightforward, that's it.

the file itself disappears
Coppermine doesn't do that - it doesn't move files around. Must be something your webhost does. Ask them why files disappear; not related to coppermine.

Thank you for your reply, I'm going to follow your suggestions and ask my webhost why the files disappear, since it's not coppermine related.
Anyway, I definitively did not stated that you had to reply or that you're my speaking puppet, this is not how I behave at all. I just stated that I asked nicely something and even though I may have done something wrong (not on purpose, since I read the docs, believe it or not) I did not deserve harshness, that's it. I know that you guys read tons of posts and you're probably tired of repeating things on and on, but I'm only saying that since I was nice, I hoped to find the same niceness.
In any case, that doesn't prevent me to thank you anyway.

I apologize for the double post, but in the case this may help someone else with similar issues, my problem has been solved with the upgraded version of Coppermine Gallery. Thanks.
