The problem one is /include/init.inc.php

I add the code as instructed and get the error, remove it & it works.

Tried it several times so I'm sure I have edited it correctly.

after changing back the modification from .23 to .21 in init.inc.php all went smooth again.

Then don't apply the manual fix, but do as suggested and perform the full upgrade. Post a link to your gallery for a start and don't try to hijack the thread of others, but start a thread of your own in the future.

Just tried to set up a new Coppermine gallery, having just downloaded the 1.4.23 version.

I get as far as running install.php with all relevant information, it completes successfully, then I attempt to log in but get the same "Error 500 Internal Server Error" after a wait of about 20 seconds.

My host is 1&1.co.uk if that helps in any way.

The above is still working, using 1.4.21 with the manual fixes for 1.4.22 and 2 of the manual fixes for 1.4.23. The one fix I had to remove was for include/init.php

The link below is for a fresh install. No images added, as I only downloaded 1.4.23 to try a fresh install.

An internal server error is exactly what the name suggests: something unexpected happened that the server could not cope with. The reason can lie in your particular setup or a bug. It's impossible to tell just by looking at the error 500 page. Details can be found by looking into the server's logs. Do so if you can and supply the details if you can.

This means nothing to me, but just checked on the logs for the 3 "error 500" messages when I attempted to access the "fresh install" of cpg at

Tried what he suggested & the problem appears to be solved, no Error 500 & I can log in.

Is this the answer to my problem? If so I will mark as "solved"
