There are also issues with the mass E-mail that no longer works and the comment alert so people know when someone is leaving a message on their photo that I would like fixed.   

In the forum there is an error message that comes up when you leave a message, but the message is left anyhow.  It discourages members from leaving messages and leads them to believe that  the forum doesn't work.

Your biggest problem and one that needs fixing urgently if that you are running CPG 1.4.10.

You will need to get this sorted before doing anything else.

The last time I went through an upgrade it was a total disaster.  I lost member's photos and that is when the problems I currently have started in the first place.  I am currently laid-off and not in a financial position to do a major upgrade.  I need some patch work.  You ask me to post what I am willing to pay... What can I get done for $100.  My budget is limited, and the last person I had work on my site left it in a worse position than it was in the first place.  I was told the same thing that you are telling me know to upgrade.  How can I trust that this will work?  What does a total upgrade cost?  A ball park figure would help - thank you!

The upgrade procedure really is simple if you follow the docs. The problem is, if you do not learn how to do it you will forever be in the position you are now and needing help.

It also sounds as if you have no backups (and assumption made by the fact that things ar now worse), something also important. If you have backups of your database and files from when all was working then this should be an easy task.

I am reposting this because the first post had my work e-mail and I was not able to change it.  Below is a few of the problems I've been experiencing.
The back-up I have is not going to help because these issues have been going on for a long time and I've finally decided to address them.  The only new item is that I was backing up albums and one of them disappeared.  Not sure why.  I would like to see if I can salvage the comments and the photos and put them back into an album.  I can find the photos with a search, but the photo only appears as a thumb and the album does not exist???

I would like to find out approximately how much this would cost me on a project basis.
Per hour or per job.  I am recently unemployed and have to be cost conscious!  Would $10/hour be fair?
If an upgrade is necessary I would need to know how much also and if this will affect my site at all.  I cannot afford to loose anything that I've archived for years.

Yes, definitely. You're running cpg1.4.10, while the most recent stable release currently is cpg1.4.22, so you're running a totally outdated version where the risk to get hacked is great. We suggest performing this by yourself - you will never be able to maintain your site if you don't perform the upgrade yourself, especially if you're on a tight budget. You have been told so before.

If I knew how to upgrade or fix the problems myself I would have done it a long time ago.  What kind of help is this.  Insult me and tell me I told you so.  Please if you can help me fine, if not let me find a free lancer with the skills that can show me how to fix my problems so I won't have to bother anyone again.  I find your support site confusing and you assume everyone has the expertise to find their way around as well as you have for years.  I have different sets of skills and I am not a programer.  I am a graphic artist and the person that assisted placing the coppermine script onto my website hasn't helped me in years.  Why can't someone just tell me how much it would cost to fix and update my coppermine and then I could make a decision to proceed or not???  Thank you for your time. Honestly, I have no desire to become a programer!

Upgrading is really not a programming job. All you have to be able to do is copy some files accross and browse to a file (update.php).

It will honestly take you less than half an hour to learn how to do it, probably less if you already can use an ftp app.

Joachim is not trying to insult you but is actually trying to help you to help yourself. Yes, at times the rules of this board are confusing but if you take the time and put in a little effort you will get all the help you need. In this case everything about upgrading is in the docs and if you at least attempt it and ask as per the board rules you will get the help without it costing you. So no need to get the hump, just give it a go and start a thread in the upgrading section.

As for experience, coppermine is not a program directed at those with no skills. You need to be able to use an ftp app and have some very basic skills. If you do not have those skills and are unwilling to learn them (which really is simple) then coppermine is not for you.

The fear that I have is that I might screw everything up that has been created for years.  The last time there was an upgrade my site ran into many difficulties and this was with an experienced person.  Perhaps it is easier to upgrade now? I am capable enough to understand how to FTP files, but I'm not sure if my site is set up like an ordinary coppermine gallery.  What if it has been tweaked in a way that needs extra attention.  I would not have the skills to deal with that and my site could be down for days if not weeks to get it working again.  This is why I would rather have an experienced person assist me.  If what you are saying is that there is a some type of control file that just needs to be replaced and that is all.. then maybe I can do it myself.  But, I still do not want to chance loosing albums and photos that have been entered by members since 2004.  Already an album has just disappeared for unknown reasons, and I, and all my members would be devastated if I messed things up.  If I were just creating a site I would just do it in a heart beat, but this is quite a different story where I do not want to experiment.

I understand that doing a back-up is necessary!  I was doing one and for some reason one of my member's albums just disappeared.  I have no idea why this would happen.  The photos seem to still be there when a search is conducted, but when the photo comes up the message says that no such album exists??  Warrum?

I have a budget of under $100

I believe that my coppermine has been somewhat modified and I am afraid to upgrade to the newest version myself for fear that I will ruin something.

Already there has been a few problems.  I was trying to do a back-up and one of my member's albums just disappeared.

My mass e-mail does not work and either does the e-mail notification when someone leaves a comment.

I also have a phpbb forum where when you leave a message an error message comes up, but yet the message is still published.  It confuses me and members.
