Problems Uploading
« on: April 26, 2009, 06:20:18 pm »

I have installed Coppermine via Fantasico.  I have made no changes to the installation except that I have create new sub-folder in the album folder.  The gallery is at artecho.co.uk/gallery. User name: test user account and password: password

I am receiving the following error message when trying to upload images:

The previous file could not be placed.

You have successfully placed all the files.

Unfortunately I am not developer and will therefore need a simplistic description of any troubleshooting steps that I need to take.

I thank you in advance for your patience.

Simply reading the docs about "Setting file permissions" would be a good start

Before going any further you need to install a propper copy instead of an outdated coppermine install made with the crappy fantastico installer.

All the details on how to do this are in the docs on this very site.

Because fantastico mucks about with so many things we are unable to support installs made using it.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

After doing what Phill suggested, do exactly what explained here: Asking for support on upload issues
