Testing email settings?

Is there a way to test the email settings in Coppermine? 

Like where it tries to send an email and if it fails to port it through the smtp server it shows up the server output?

I am trying to figure out why my coppermine isnt getting emails out, some of my other programs like The Bugs and Control Panel can send email out fine but with the exact same settings Coppermine fails to get the emails out.

using 1.4.20.

Sure: make it send an email, e.g. by using the ecard feature.
