Maybe you can just say what's wrong.

The upload is set to 1 file (not only browser but also http since there is the error)
There is a user account that CAN upload and isn't a moderator
the debug is on for now since the person who hosts my site is also checking if it is his PHP that is making the error. But that isn't making it.

So just a heads up would make u and me both lesser frustrated since you know what's not being done and i seem not to be able to find it..

When asking for support on the coppermine forum, post a link to your site and a test user account DONE
 (the test user mustn't be in the admin group!) DONE
with upload privileges, with the above mentioned settings in place DONE
 this way, supporters can see the error messages as well.
Do not post debug_output unless requested. Can't delete or edit first post
If you want fast results, you should disable admin approval for the group the test user is in DONE
 so supporters can tell instantly what is wrong without needing to double-check.

Tell me what i didn't do since i seem to have done it all...

I treated you gently, look my previous post, so let's be nice, ok? :)

Maybe you can just say what's wrong.
The reading part... You have to read carefully.

My last posting was because you didn't set some things as they should. Anyways, you came back again and you still don't changed as the docs suggest.

Please,:

Quote
# Set the upload form configuration for all groups to "Single file uploads only"

   1. set File upload boxes to "1" (1)
   2. set URI upload boxes to "0" (2)
   3. set No. of boxes to "fixed" (3)

hi,
there is nothing wrong whit that
everything seems to be fine (normal upload to .. that works , configured myself the complete server ... ) , the only problem is the get command (URI UPLOAD  or REMOTE upload)
it doesnt do the GET , but it makes  a POST command
and you cant create a POST command whitout a GET command ?? or do you -.-

to make it easy , i going post here the exact error what i get
Quote from: error code
==========================
GET :
------------------
Array
(
)

==========================
POST :
------------------
Array
(
    [URI_array] => Array
        (

        )

    [control] => phase_1
)

==========================

feel free to try out the link
here is the link again to the logo that i use to upload a remote logo (yes it works ..)
http://powerchaos.com/logo.png

in case you thell me that remote get doesnt works
then i can give you a few scripts that works whit remote get to prove that they works -.-

the biggest problem is that i dont get a debug information about the exact error , exept that it doesnt upload it (GET)
for the rest it says that 0 files are uploaded and that there was a error whit no description (is that not easy ??)

Thank you

@PowerChaos: Read board rules and do as suggested there:
10. One question per thread
We have a strict "One question/issue per thread rule", which helps both supporters/moderators to keep track of open/closed issues as well as users who search the board or browse it, looking for answers to their question. Don't try to "hijack" other's threads by posting unrelated questions to an existing thread.
This thread isn't yours, but it belongs to the thread starter. However, the same reply that Fabricio made applies to you as well:
I think you miss the more important thing to be read in this cases--> Asking for support on upload issues ;)
Do so in a thread of your own - I'm not going to split this thread (which would technically be possible), because it is already confusing enough. Your postings in this thread will get ignored.

@Conditor: you haven't done as suggested - you should have set the number of URI upload fields to 0, but it currently is set to 1. That's nonsensical - you need to stick to the instructions given to a tee. Chnage the corresponding setting on the groups control panel, then post back here. Ignore PowerChaos' postings.

Ok i changed the URI uploads to O now.
The normal upload from a computer do work, the only problem i have with uploading is with http uploads.

Thankx for the heads up Joachim ;-)

The normal upload from a computer do work
Confirmed, see http://www.gfxconditor.info/gfxalbum/displayimage.php?pos=-10

the only problem i have with uploading is with http uploads.
http uploads are normal uploads. Are you by chance confusing things? Are you actually refering to URI uploads, i.e. is it the URI uploads feature that you have issues with? If yes, then there's little you can do: some webhosts simply don't allow you to use the PHP commands that are needed for URI uploads to work. If this is the case for you, then you simply won't be able to use URI uploads. However, that's not bad. URI uploads are a silly feature anyway that never should have been added to the coppermine package. Some users think that URI uploads would save them bandwidth and webspace - they think that the uploaded image remains on the remote webspace. That's not the case - the image get's transfered. You don't save anything. If URI uploads don't work for you, then simply don't use them.
If you have another issue, please clarify. As suggested: http uploads work as expected.

Ok thanks joachim, it's indeed the URI (sorry for mixing things up) that aren't working.
I know the image will still be on the website where i run coppermine on. I just have most images in photobucket atm and wanted to transfer them to the coppermine without first have to download them to my computer and then back to the internet.

If there is no way to get it to work i have to do the "normal" way of uploading. If there is a way, i would love to hear it. Simply for one reason> It's used regular by me, i use it on a other coppermine photoalbum (planet renders) where it works perfect :-) And i know some members who are going to use the coppermine album on my site have alot of their images placed on a online album like photobucket or tinypic etc etc and it would make it easier for them to transfer them. Again, only if there is a way of getting it to work. If not, then i just have bad luck ; -)

Again thanks for the fast en very helpfull support Joachim!!

Use FTP uploads plus batch-add. That's the recommended strategy for admin uploads. Read up the docs on that. Marking thread as "invalid", as the subject line doesn't match the actual issue, so it's hardly helpfull for others with similar issues.

[Solved]: URI/URL upload error
« Reply #17 on: March 06, 2009, 10:13:32 am »

Dear Coppermine Support.

I've installed coppermine twice, on the same server. In different maps and both a different DB. That works perfect!
Doing a "normal" upload also works perfect. In fact the whole photoalbum does what it should do, on 1 small error. I know it's only that problem, and i can upload files from any computer to my album, but i would really love to see the URI/URL upload working aswell.
I know it's possible since i've seen it working on "planet renders".

Here is what i did so far:

Checked the settings from the host for php, these are all more then good to upload using url's
made on both the sites a "test" account for coppermine to check it. Allthough 1 thing is different from what is expected that is the settings for URI/URL, you request it to be set to 0 but since it's about this uplaod error i left it on 1 so it's possible to test it.

If it should be set to 0 aswell to test the URI/URL error just say that in the reply and i gladly change it to 0 if that helps me getting this fixed.

The info:

site: http://www.gfxconditor.info/privealbum/
username: coppermine
password: test123

site: http://www.gfxconditor.info/gfxalbum/
username: coppermine
password: test123

I do know i asked in a other topic, but it was not on a proper way. Now the title is very clear about the subject and i do believe the post is less confusing. I do hope there is a way to get the URI/URL Upload to work and that we will be able to solve it in this topic.
Thanx for your patience and help so far!

@Conditor:Ignore PowerChaos' postings.

To make 1 thing clear , this is EXACLTY my post ..

reason 1 : I AM THE HOST .... (and even more that just a simple webhost)

REASON 2 : EVERYTHING IS SETTED THAT A NORMAL/FREEHOST DOESTN EVEN DO , even some things that i normal doesnt do to set -.- (i know what i do ...)

3) DONT complain that this isnt my post , i got more to do whit it then you can even think of it (its my server , it are my clients , i provide them the support they ask for , i help them , i fix things for them , i get angry because some other noobs dont want to give support whitout making first a lot of posts .. and so on ...)

if you just want to say ... F*CK OFF , then just SAY IT and dont say always the same things

in case you are wondering of my websites and how THEY look whit nice forum posts and stuff , please go ahead

http://music.powerchaos.info
http://video.powerchaos.info
http://warezhost.cn
http://mathiaskeulen.be
http://topgfx.com
http://3dtopgfx.info

do i need to post more to PROOF that nothing is wrong whit my server ???

then to answer your other Question , that you ask me to make my own topic ... THIS ISNT FOR ME -.- this is for a client
but you dont seems to listen to him so i HELP him whit making this post ... so i CAN fix the stuff if something is wrong , so i CAN do things in a faster time then 24 hours w8ting for a 1 small thing ...

to make everything clear again
read EXACT what here STANDS o.O

(dont forget to edit , then you readed it to)

Code: [Select]
URL UPLOAD DOES NOT WORKS FOR ADMIN/USERS
IT DOES NOT DO THE GET COMMAND
IT DO A POST COMMAND WHIT OUT A GET COMMAND
WE NEED URL UPLOAD FOR OUR VISITORS
dont know how to explain it easyer then this ...

in case you want to post your other post again , then i know enouf over this service and stuff ...
then i shal see what i can do on my own ,mixing some more codes and maybe releasing my own EDITED script of coppermine whit a GOOD support forum (some forum that says that every1is the same .. not complaining about a simple thing ... thinking  that we are noobs and dont read .. and so on)
then i would suggest to read the last post

dit you EVER saw a user using  FTP ?? exept anoumus ftp ??

i dont , exept my own ftp website do i not know anything that lets upload whit ftp
exept my own ftp upload scripts that are meaned to upload whit ftp over ssl dont i know anything that would even get a visitor to upload whit FTP ..

so check your answer before ignoring some1 a

I do know i asked in a other topic, but it was not on a proper way.
This is in fact Double posting and it's not allowed.

Allthough 1 thing is different from what is expected that is the settings for URI/URL, you request it to be set to 0 but since it's about this uplaod error i left it on 1 so it's possible to test it.
You're joking, right?  ::)
Please read from docs:

To make this absolutely clear: the above mentioned steps are absolutely mandatory, no matter what skill level you have, no matter what upload method you have troubles with. Failing to do exactly as suggested will result in your request for help being ignored. Yes, this applies to you. We mean it!
And, read it from Project Manager words:
@Conditor: you haven't done as suggested - you should have set the number of URI upload fields to 0, but it currently is set to 1. That's nonsensical - you need to stick to the instructions given to a tee. Chnage the corresponding setting on the groups control panel, then post back here.
So what do you expect? Another kindly reply from us?

Anyways, no matter your settings are, you already received and reply and suggestion to your issue:
there's little you can do: some webhosts simply don't allow you to use the PHP commands that are needed for URI uploads to work. If this is the case for you, then you simply won't be able to use URI uploads.
And...
If URI uploads don't work for you, then simply don't use them.

My conclusion: We are not fond of being hours trying to solve your problem when you could easly do the trick doing a simple steps. First whe you are ready to do the uri upload, paste tha uri into a browser, right click on the image, "Save this image" and then do a FTP upload to your webspace. Finaly, batch add.

Are you agree with me? Don't get frustrated if this topic is locked as we have already gave you an answer to your issue. :)
