An update history integrated with website
« on: January 24, 2009, 05:02:08 pm »

Is there a mod or plugin that shows the update history on pages of my website? For example

Main Page
- A page about flowers
-- An update history that shows images updated to the flowers album
- A page about food
-- An update history that shows updates of the food album

Basically a mod/plugin that gives updates of the gallery without entering the gallery. Because my website consists of many different category (my site: http://gaming.uuuq.com) and I want each category to display an update of their own album in the gallery.

The difference would be, I don't know what a RSS plugin is. So, one would assume that the original poster (me) would have no idea if the requested plugin/mod even exists.

My knowledge consists of intermediate HTML/CSS and basic PHP/MYSQL, don't even know what RSS is.

At the moment, I am using cpmfetch, but the output is limited and some html format is restricted. Does not include the date of the images/albums added/updated. I will use this for a while I guess, in the meantime, i will get my head into what RSS is. Thanks for pointing me to the RSS direction, otherwise I probably wouldn't stick my nose into the RSS book in my life.

Hmm, after a brief study of RSS, it doesn't seem like it offers me what I want. What I am looking for is a section on my webpage that reports how many images have been uploaded to an album in coppermine gallery.

RSS seems to require manual update of what has been done to the site, correct me if I am wrong. Maybe I am missing something.

Like when I upload 30 images to album food, the section where I want the updates reported, automatically updates with something like "30 images have been added to the "food" album on 01/24/2009".

Every upload creates a new line of announced update. Could be a confusing script but I'm pretty sure it's possible to write and/or is out there. Could be very useful for site that have a lot of contents, and in those contents have a section that lets viewer know what has been added to the assigned albums.

I have update history installed, but it only shows update on the main page of coppermine and has no integration with my website at all. cpmfetch is the closest to what I want at the moment, but it is so limited.
